Sky's environmental website draws 78% of users back for more.
The Bigger Picture was a community website where Sky people and customers joined together to make their mark on the future of our planet. It pulled in thousands every day.
Sky was the first media company to achieve CarbonNeutral® status. As part of this ‘The Bigger Picture’ was launched - a place where Sky people join together and make their mark on the future of the planet.
Avvio was commissioned to design and build ‘The Bigger Picture’ interactive website and as part of this we included a sticky element that would keep employees returning, day after day.
By taking part in environmentally friendly activities such as car sharing, employees earned Carbon Credits.
These Carbon Credits were visualised as tropical fish swimming in the users' very own underwater reef. The more often they took part in activities, the bigger the fish.
Results:
- In the first week alone over 1,200 employees registered on the site
- Over 50,000 Carbon Credits earned
- Repeat visit rate of 78%
- A year later the site was rolled out to Sky customers
- The site has grown to become one of the most extensive of its kind
Employee driven content
Surveys were used to gather detailed employee feedback. This was then used to help shape the future developments of Sky's Carbon initiatives.
Personalised reef
To engage Sky people we created a customisable underwater reef. Each piece of marine life was used to represent an activity and the more activities an employee did, the more marine life and carbon credits an employee would get.
Collecting points for reducing carbon
Personal employee activities were converted to points and added together to give Sky an overall carbon points figure.
